The Rocstor Airhawk A9 offers three different connections to your MacBook
- by Mark L. Chambers Whitfield, MacBook for Dummies
...illustrates a popular external hard drive that offers FireWire 400, FireWire800, and USB2.0 connections: the Airhawk A9, from Rocstor (www.rocstor.com, about $170 online). I carry this drive with me in my laptop bag, because it's not much larger than an iPhone and doesn't even require a separate power supply - yet the A9 provides 500GB of quiet external storage, making it a great chose for a Time Machine backup that travels with you! |

Serving Your Home Printers
- Posted by John R. Joyce, Ph.D.
For some time, Microsoft Windows has supported the concept of printer sharing. Simply put, a printer on one
computer could be used by someone working on another computer, as long as they were on the same network and
you'd enabled printer sharing. The gotcha to this concept is that, for someone to share their printer, the printer first
had to be physically connected to their machine and, secondly, they needed to have their computer turned on and
connected to the network... |

Locking Your Memory, Revisited -- Secure external hard drives can help to minimize your risk
- Posted by John R. Joyce, Ph.D.
Some time ago, I took you on a tour of a few USB drives that allow you to secure the drive’s contents, whether by
locking the interface, encrypting the contents, or both. That analysis still holds, and you will find that some of those
devices, such as IronKey, have continued to evolve. However, by their nature, these drives usually had limited
storage capacity, at least in comparison to available external hard drives... |

Rocsafe Puts Security Into Portable Drive -- External hard drive’s small size, two-factor authentication puts 500G safely in your pocket
- Posted by Greg Crowe
Portability and security don’t often go hand in hand. All too often, one must be compromised for the sake of the other. Although more common lately, it’s still a rare thing to see the two concepts working smoothly together as well as they do with the Rocsafe MX portable hard drive from Rocstor. |

The Ultimate In Mobile Storage Security - Posted by Matthew McKenzie
Mobile storage is a double-edged sword. Most small businesses can't work without the ability to take sensitive customer data outside the office from time to time.
If you lose that data, however, you've got trouble. Big trouble. You'll have to answer to your customers, and you might also have to answer to the government.
Encryption is always your first, and usually best, line of defense against this kind of problem. A lot of companies can settle for "good enough" encryption, using free tools like TrueCrypt. But if you absolutely, positively have to protect business data against any conceivable attack, a company named Rocstor is worth a closer look. |

Portable hard drive fits in your pocket
- by Terry Gardner
Name: Airhawk A3 Portable Hard Drive
What it is: A portable, pocket-size hard drive that connects to a Mac or PC
via a USB port. It's made by Rocstor, a California-based company that
specializes in fast, high-capacity data-storage units. Though the Airhawk is
not an encrypted drive, encryption is one of Rocstor's specialties. The drive
is both bus-powered and bootable, so if your laptop isn't booting up for some
reason, the Airhawk A3 could get the system up as long as an operating
system is loaded on the drive. |

Protect data with encrypted hard drives
- by Joe Kissell
" At least one product, Rocstor's upcoming Rocsafe MX, combines a physical key (in the form of a smart card) and a built-in keypad for entering a passcode in a compact hard drive enclosure, so users must have both the key and the code to decrypt the data." View Website |

USB 3.0 Finally Arrives. Adoption is faster than with previous versions -- but we want more, now. Here's why.
While the WD drive was the first to announce, a slew of other hard drive makers either announced products at the show, or discussed plans to release products in the coming months. Among them: Seagate (which is doing a portable drive), LaCie, Rocstor, and Iomega. Even non-traditional hard drive vendors like Dane-Elec and A-Data showed products they billed as USB 3.0 (the latter two even had USB 3.0-connected SSDs, the first external drives to use solid-state storage inside. |
